Christmas parties at Canvas World halls of residence

Christmas at a student hall of residence can be very special: far from home, but surrounded by people living the same life as you. Christmas parties at Canvas World are designed for that reason: to create moments of community, disconnection and shared memories before heading home or bringing the year to an end.

This year, the Sabadell, Seville and Pamplona halls of residence have organised their own Christmas activities, adapted to the style of each city but with something in common: good food, music, raffles and a desire to get together.

In this article we take a look at Christmas at the Canvas World halls of residence in Spain and what each building has done.

Christmas at Canvas Sabadell Llac: Catalan tradition and community celebration

At Canvas Sabadell Llac, Christmas got off to a great start on 13 December with a plan designed for sharing and having fun:

  • Typical cannelloni meal
A direct nod to Catalan tradition, perfect for sitting down together, chatting and saying goodbye to the term with a homemade winter dish.
  • Secret Santa
Residents exchanged small gifts, ideal to break the ice between neighbours and strengthen friendships.
  • Canvas gift
In addition to gifts between residents, the building team prepared Canvas gifts to thank them for the year shared.
  • DJ
After the meal and the gifts, it was time to turn the space into a small dance floor. Music provided the festive finishing touch to the day.
  • Gift card raffle
Gift cards were raffled during the party, a perfect extra to help with end-of-year shopping or a whim.
  • Caga Tió
We couldn’t miss this Catalan tradition: a Tió de Nadal to 'shit' gifts and sweets, something very special for those who hadn’t heard of him and a way to share local culture with students from other regions or countries.

This is how Christmas went at the Canvas World hall of residence in Sabadell: mixing traditions, gifts, music and a family atmosphere.

Christmas at Canvas Sevilla Lago: sport, pizzas and raffle night

At Canvas Sevilla Lago, Christmas was celebrated on 18 December with a very 'Sevillian Canvas' format: sport, an informal meal and good music.

  • Paddle tennis tournament
The day kicked off with a tournament that brought together residents from different floors and groups. Perfect for those who enjoy a bit of competition and meeting new people outside the classroom.
  • Pizza night
After the tournament, there’s nothing better than a pizza night to recharge your batteries. Eating, commenting on the matches and laughing about the day's plays is almost as important as winning the tournament.
  • Music and laidback atmosphere
The evening continued with music, chatting and that 'last days before the holidays' feeling that makes Christmas in a hall of residence so special.
  • Raffles
As at other Canvas World Christmas parties, there were also raffles for the residents: an extra thrill and a way of thanking them for their participation and involvement in the life of the building.

In Seville, the combination was clear: sport, good vibes and an informal dinner to close the year in community.

Christmas at Canvas Pamplona Plazaola: gala dinner and DJ night

At Canvas Pamplona Plazaola, Christmas was a more formal experience but equally close touch on 19 December:

  • Christmas gala dinner
A special evening to dress up a bit and share a table with friends and neighbours. Good food, detailed decor and the feeling of being at an important pre-holiday celebration.
  • Gift card raffle
Gift cards were raffled during the evening, a detail that many residents appreciate at the height of the Christmas season.
  • DJ and after party
After dinner, the hall of residence was transformed into a small dance floor. The DJ played music to suit all tastes and the evening turned into a great farewell to the term.

Christmas at the Canvas World hall of residence in Pamplona combines a quiet dinner with friends and a more festive part to celebrate that the first part of the course is done.

A common thread: experiencing Christmas at a Canvas World hall of residence as a community

Although each hall of residence has organised different activities, Christmas parties at Canvas World share a number of common features:

  • Connecting residents
Meals, dinners, tournaments and games like Secret Santa help you get to know your neighbours better, especially if it's your first year.
  • From the caga Tió in Sabadell to the gala dinner in Pamplona or the paddle tennis tournament in Seville, each hall of residence creates its own Christmas traditions year after year.
  • Taking care of the pre-holiday atmosphere
December is usually full of work and exams. These activities help to end the term on a high note, relax and celebrate what has been achieved.
  • Feeling accompanied even if you’re far from home
For those who come from other regions or countries, spending Christmas at a hall of residence can be a challenge. These celebrations turn it into a second home, with people who are sharing the same stage of life.
