You've decided on your degree, you've chosen your city and now it's time for another of the big decisions on your time at university: where are you going to live? When you're looking for accommodation, it's easy to get lost in square metres and lists of furnishings, but the real question you should be asking yourself is: What do I want my day-to-day life to be like?

At Canvas Student we know that no two students are the same. That's why our rooms are designed to suit your lifestyle. Let's be honest: all our options include a spectacular study area, high-speed Wi-Fi, super-comfy bed and storage space. The starting point is already premium.

What really changes is the level of independence, space or how you prefer to socialise. If you have doubts about which option to choose in your booking, here’s a guide to choose the room that best suits you.

The Studio: for those seeking total independence

Do you like to make dinner at three in the morning without making any noise? Do you prefer to have space that’s 100% your own where you set the rules? Then a Studio is for you.

  • Your own kitchen: the big difference in this option is that the room has a fully equipped private kitchen. You’re the absolute of your fridge and your schedule.
  • Private bathroom: all studios have a private bathroom. A very convenient option to maintain your privacy to the maximum and not have to wait.

This is the ideal option if you’re a "lone wolf" when it comes to recharging your batteries, but you want to be free to go down to the common areas when you feel like socialising.

Room in a shared flat: social life without losing privacy

If the idea of living alone bores you, but you’re terrified of the lack of privacy in traditional shared flats, this is the perfect solution. At Canvas Student you can choose a single room in a shared flat.

  • The perfect balance: you have your own room so if you need to concentrate or sleep, you go there and the world disappears.
  • Shared kitchen and living room: outside your room there’s a kitchen and living area that you share with your flatmate. It’s the perfect place to have dinner parties, prepare breakfast or get to know each other.
  • Come with friends: moving to the city with a friend? You can book the same flat and live together with all the advantages and security of a hall of residence.

The 'Premium' factor: terraces and more space

If you spend a lot of time in the room, exercise in there or just need to feel like you have plenty of space to breathe, you need to check out the superior options.

  • More space: some of our premium rooms and studios offer extra square metres. Ideal if you have a lot of equipment (sports, architectural equipment, musical instruments) or if you simply like minimalism and open space.
  • Rooms with terrace: drinking your first coffee in the morning outdoors or reading in the sun without leaving your room is priceless. If you’re a person who needs outdoor living and natural light, looking for an option with a terrace will mark a before and after on your course.
